By now many people have heard the news that Jimmy Chamberlin has left The Smashing Pumpkins. A while ago I blogged about If All Goes Wrong, the Smashing Pumpkins live DVD / documentary that was released back in November. I purchased this day one and was completely blown away by the awesomeness of the entire package. Well ladies and gentlemen, it’s that time of the year again; time to unveil my top albums!. This was a fantastic year for music, hence my expanding this list from 20 to 25. Even with that expansion, there were still some very fine albums that did not make the cut. Such honorable mentions as Headlights [...] The video for the hit Smashing Pumpkins Guitar Hero: World Tour exclusive song “G.L.O.W.” made its debut today. It’s about time The Smashing Pumpkins have made their way back to New York, which means I won’t have to schlep my ass over to Philly to see them. The band announced their 20th Anniversary Tour Dates yesterday and it includes two shows in NYC. It’s that time of the year again; time for some new Smashing Pumpkins news. This edition comes on the heels of the announcement of a 271 minute Documentary/Concert DVD titled If All Goes Wrong. From SP’s official website… Coming Home Media will release If All Goes Wrong, a double DVD commemorative package celebrating the recent reunion [...] Hope everyone had a great holiday and a happy new year. I’m very excited by the music landscape of 2008 so far especially after getting my hands on both the new Cat Power and Vampire Weekend full length. I highly recommend both. Here are a few other things that I’ve been thinking about recently… It was very hard for me to compile a list of only 20 albums for this year’s “best of” list and there were some really strong records which didn’t make the cut. For example, Jimmy Eat World’s Chase This Light was a very solid offering, as was Elk City’s New Believers and Clap Your Hands [...] The Smashing Pumpkins held a contest inviting fans to remix their “unique” video for “Tarantula.” The band provided all the video footage in front of a green screen and asked the fans to run wild. Today, the winning video was announced, and I can honestly say it’s extremely kick-ass and 1,000x better than the original! [...] If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to have a video chat with Billy Corgan in the year 2020, wonder no more. The Smashing Pumpkins debuted their new video today and it answers that question.That’s The Way (My Love Is) Just a quick reminder that The Smashing Pumpkins will be performing on Letterman tonight and on Friday (they are taping two shows today). |
