Live Eh!

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2005

Our neighbors up north have decided to get in on the Live 8 action by holding a concert of their own. Some of those scheduled to perform are Barenaked Ladies, Bryan Adams, Deep Purple, Motley Crue, Our Lady Peace, Simple Plan, Tegan & Sara, The Tragically Hip and Tom Cochrane.

Free health care, mounted police and now a better show then us?! What’s going on here?

City of Brotherly Crap

Thursday, June 16th, 2005

So what do you do when one crappy act (50 Cent) drops off the Live 8 Philly show? Add another crappy act to replace it! That’s what the organizers did today when they added Linkin Park to the already awful lineup that we in the U.S. will be subjected to.

In case you forgot (or blocked it out), some of those slated to perform the American set are: Destiny’s Child, Jay-Z, Kaiser Chiefs, Keith Urban, Maroon 5, P Diddy, and Rob Thomas. Will Smith will be the host.

Nine Inch Nails Coming Back For More

Wednesday, June 15th, 2005

If you missed either of the two NIN
shows at Hammerstein a short while ago, you’ll have a second chance to
see Trent Reznor and Co. as they’ve announced a Fall Tour that will see
them play Madison Square Garden on November 3.

Queens of the Stone Age will be the support act.

The rest of the tour dates can be found here.

Sigur Rós to Tour US

Monday, June 13th, 2005

Sigur Rós will be embarking on a world tour this summer and making
stops in the US mainland starting September 6th in Atlanta. (They will
be in Honolulu on August 8, which is coincidentally enough, my
birthday, so if you’re strapped for present ideas, a trip to Hawaii to
see Sigur Rós would be an idea!) They will be hitting the Beacon
Theater in NYC for two nights: September 12 and 13.

The complete tour schedule can be found here.

Divided No More: Pink Floyd to Re-Unite

Sunday, June 12th, 2005

Wow. As if the London show for Live 8 wasn’t amazing enough already
(Coldplay, The Killers, Velvet Revolver, The Cure, Dido, Keane, Snow
Patrol, Annie Lennox, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Razorlight, Snoop Dogg,
Sting, U2, Joss Stone, Stereophonics, REM, Muse,), the biggest
announcement yet was made today when Pink Floyd said they will re-unite for the first time in 24 years! (Yes, with Roger Waters!)

Things
turned sour when Waters sued the band in the 80’s and lost over use of
the band name. David Gilmore and company released the bands last album,
The Division Bell in 1994 sans
Roger Waters, but the guys have put their differences aside in order to
do their part in ending poverty and increasing aid to Africa.

Live 8 will take place on July 2.
