Feist has officially “made it big”

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

You haven’t really made it big in this world as an entertainer until you’ve appeared on Sesame Street. Now, the beloved Feist can brag that she has joined the ranks of Stevie Wonder, Johnny Cash, Robert DiNero, R.E.M. and countless others with this brand new take on her smash hit “1 2 3 4.”

Miss Guided

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Judy Greer – Miss GuidedOkay, so way back after the first episode, before anyone knew what it was, I blogged that Lost was a must-watch show and was going to be huge. Then, I basically started a campaign here telling everyone to watch 30 Rock. After a rough first-season, people finally started coming around and Tina Fey & co. are finally getting the recognition that show deserves.

Well, I’m here to tell you about Miss Guided, a new show on ABC, that I absolutely loved after only one episode. Miss Guided stars Judy Greer, best known as Kitty on Arrested Development, as a high school guidance counselor with tons of personal and self-esteem issues. I was laughing throughout the entire show at the breath-of-fresh-air writing and Judy’s wonderful comedic delivery. This is just one of those shows that after only 22 minutes I knew I was watching something special.

Now I urge everyone to get their ass in front of the TV (or set your DVR) and give this show a chance. If there’s one thing I don’t do, it’s recommend shit shows to people.

Miss Guided is moving to it’s regular time slot this week, which will be Thursday at 8pm. Don’t let this show disappear, because if there’s anything lacking on television these days, it’s quality scripted comedy.

The Whigs on Conan

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Very last minute, but I just realized that The Whigs are on Conan tonight.

If you haven’t checked out their latest, Mission Control, you’re missing out on one great record guaranteed to be high on my end-of-the year list.

Earth to Chris Daughtry

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Chris DaughtryCan someone please tell Chris Daughtry that he has no cred and is no different than Clay Aiken, Blake Lewis or the other American Idol non-winners? With quote like this, I’m sure he could use a reminder:

“I feel like it’s definitely lacking some credibility at this point, It’s in a state of decline and if they don’t do something about it, it’s probably not gonna last too much longer. I’m sure that’ll be used against me, but that’s the truth, you know?”

Has American Idol EVER had credibility?

Regardless, the new season kicks off tonight, so be prepared for the constant onslaught for the next few months.

Fuzzy Lioness’ “Fall TV Roundup”

Friday, September 28th, 2007

It’s the time where networks invoke their right to air total crap with a few keepers for good measure. I don’t know what it is about this year in particular, but I couldn’t be less excited for the new round of shows. My DV-R is still clogged from my handful of my favorites and I just don’t get that “WOW! That looks amazing!” feeling for really anything new. Taking that all into account, my outlook is more than bleak for the majority of these new prospects.
Let’s start with the obvious failures:

MOONLIGHT

Vampires. Wait, that means typically I would  be all about it! However a show that has to follow Ghost Whisperer isn’t really helping its case. I could make a lot of horrible “suck” references, but by the time I even write this it will probably be cancelled.

LIFE

You ever see a preview and think this show definitely has promise then you realize it won’t last more than four episodes?

I find it hard to invest myself into something that I know isn’t sticking around.

CAVEMEN

Seriously? I mean ABC, REALLY? Are they serious? They are kidding, right???

On the cancellation fence:

PRIVATE PRACTICE

Okay,I admit, I watch Grey’s Anatomy. However, I’m not SO into Grey’s Anatomy I’d follow a Season 2 character all the way to another show that looks like a terrible attempt at being funny. I think there might be enough Grey’s Fans to keep it alive, but the fact I couldn’t even get through the first 3 minutes isn’t the best sign!

BIONIC WOMAN

The hype started out strong until it was time for the actual premiere. Now I’m not hearing too much about this, which isn’t to say no one is watching it, but two bionic chicks just doesn’t do it for me.

BIG SHOTS/DIRTY SEXY MONEY

Men trying to be Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives. Unfortunately, though I adore Michael Vartan, I just wonder if women are really that interested in what TVs idea of a man thinks.

The only show I’m going to bother watching:

JOURNEYMAN

This is saved on my DV-R for weekend viewing. I haven’t seen an episode yet, but the premise of time travel and juggling past relationships with future relationships definitely has my attention.

Oldies on their last legs:

PRISON BREAK

The first season was an adrenaline rush and the second season was surprisingly not awful. This third season though? I mean, how many times can you break out of prison!?

JERICHO

I know it was brought back from the dead, but there was a reason it was called dead to begin with. I think no amount of fan pleading is going to save it this time.

MEN IN TREES

I watch this show and though it’s nothing new, it manages to have these great characters. However, it completely dropped off the planet last year and I will be very surprised if it can maintain any spark on the new schedule.

Sarah Silverman Hearts Abortions

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Videos like this are the reason Sarah Silverman is one of our generations greatest (and most under-appreciated) comedians:

The new season of The Sarah Silverman Program premiers on October 3rd on Comedy Central. Keep checking back because I should have a DVD of season 1 to give away in the near future.

It’s Always Funny in Philadelphia

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

It’s Always Sunny in PhiladelphiaReminder to all you out there that like to laugh: the new season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia premiers tomorrow (Thursday 9/13) at 10pm on FX. If you’re never seen the show, think of it as a more dysfunctional, raunchy Seinfeld with different scenery.

In fact, if you head over to “Sunny’s” official MySpace page, they have an exclusive web episode which is just as funny as it’s television counterpart.

Kristin Bell coming back to TV

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Soooooo hot!Kristin Bell, AKA “Veronica Mars”, AKA “one of the hottest girls in the world” will be making her way back onto the small screen, this time to a show that people actually watch: Heroes!

Bell will be playing a Elle, a character described as “a mysterious beauty with links to Peter’s death and H.R.G’s past.” Sounds good to me!

Kristin will make her debut on the series in October.
