Fred Claus

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Fred ClausI know the last thing anyone wants to do now is think about Christmas, but I stumbled upon the trailer for what looks to be the funniest Christmas movie since “National Lampoons Christmas Vacation.” It’s called “Fred Claus” and is about Santa (Paul Giamatti) and his brother Fred (Vince Vaughn). While my wallet may not be in any rush for Christmas ‘07, this trailer sure does.

Blades of GloryIf you haven’t seen the recently released trailer for the upcoming “Blades of Glory” movie, make sure you downloaded it in HD here.

Is there really anything with more of a potential of hilarity than a movie about 2 male figure skaters and features an all-star cast that includes Will Ferrell, Jon Heder, Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, and Nick Swardson? I think not.

Weird Al - “White & Nerdy”

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

Weird Al stopped being funny once I progressed past the eighth grade, but I have to say that his latest video is pretty damn hilarious. Who knew Weird Al could rap so well?!

Bowie Plays Tesla

Saturday, February 4th, 2006

David Bowie is playing Tesla. No, not the cheesy hair band from the 80’s. I’m talking about Nikola Tesla, a man who has been a personal fascination of mine for quite a few years.

Bowie will be playing the part of Nikola Tesla in the movie The Prestige, which also features a star cast of Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Hugh Jackman & Scarlett Johansson.

If you don’t know anything about Mr. Tesla, head over here for a quick primer, then go over to your local bookstore or library and read any book you can find on this fascinating and under-appreciated genius.

Rent & Rate: Monster In Law

Monday, September 19th, 2005

At the Fuzzy Lion home office, we have a newly acquired Netflix
subscription. With the speed of the movie-to-DVD turnaround, we have
opted to save cash and watch movies from the enjoyment of our office.
The new section “R&R”” is devoted to movie reviews of current
and/or old movies that we never got around to watching. We hope these
reviews will enable you to ““Flix it”” or ““Forget it.”

MONSTER-IN-LAW
Starring: Jennifer Lopez, Jane Fonda, Michael Vartan

Thank god Michael Vartan is easy on the eyes, because the rest of the film ““Monster-In-Law”” is hard on everything else.

Jennifer
Lopez is Charlie, a free-flying artsy woman who can afford a really
nice apartment by walking dogs and working at a doctor’s office. She
then falls for Kevin (Michael Vartan) as he runs shirtless on the
beach; bonus…he’s a doctor. They fall madly in love in a matter of
minutes, and she then inherits Kevin’s nasty mom Jane Fonda, Viola.
Wanda Sykes is inserted into the film to provide comic relief as
Viola’’s personal assistant Ruby. The plot is obvious and predictable,
but the main problem with this film is the acting. I usually don’’t
mind J. Lo’’s attempt at romantic comedies, but she overplays the
sweetness and Fonda overacts the meanness. Sykes simply acts like she
knows the movie is crap, but needs the paycheck anyways. Michael Vartan
is purely eye candy, which isn’’t a bad thing. If the script was
actually funny and the casting director did a better job, it might not
have been such a monstrosity.

Rating: Forget It
