Maybe it’s the banjo, or the atmospheric effects, but instrumentally, I can’t help but be reminded of Califone when listening to the debut self-titled release from Nashville-based duo Computer Vs. Banjo.
From the very first listen, I was in love with this album. If Ill Lit and Califone had a love child, it would be these guys.
Computer Vs. Banjo consists of Johnny Mann and Beau Stapleton, both established musicians. Mann is the former lead guitarist of Gran Torino and Stapleton played mandolin and guitar for Blue Merle. Together, their jazz/blues/rock roots combine to create beautiful souther-flavor indie music sure to make fans of the aforementioned bands excited.
Computer Vs. Banjo’s self-titled album is out on Diagram Records on June 17th.
