Murdering the Classics
The only thing lamer than tribute albums are Smashing Pumpkins tribute albums. Word came out today that MySpace Records is releasing a Smashing Pumpkins tribute album chock full of some of today’s lamest artists. (Save for Ben Kweller.)
The whoa-is-me-time-to-cut-myself tracklist thus far consists of:
Panic! at the Disco - “Tonight, Tonight”
(+44) - “I Am One”
The Academy Is … - “Mayonaise”
Deftones - “Siva”
30 Seconds to Mars - (track TBD)
The Bravery: “Rocket”
Young Love - “1979″
The New Amsterdams - “Thirty-Three”
Test Your Reflex - “Ava Adore”
Ben Kweller - “Today”
Hawthorne Heights - “Bullet With Butterfly Wings”
Gliss - “Rhinoceros”
Why do people continue to put out SP tribute albums? There have been a few already and they are all awful. If there’s one thing about us Pumpkins fans, we are total pricks and don’t want anyone butchering songs that are already perfect (no pun intended) in their current form.

What is the best bootleg by the Smashing Pumpkins? I would like to post it on my blog. Also I read on Billbaord.com that they’ve identified the two new members of the pumkins. Both are unknown musicians to fill in for D’arcy and James. I haven’t seen anything about it on your blog. Any news?

The 2 new members are Halo Friendlies bassist Ginger Reyes and Lassie Foundation guitarist Jeff Schroeder.
As for the best bootleg, there are so many that it really depends on the era. Some stand-outs for me are:
7-12-98 @ Houston, TX
4-23-99 @ San DIego, CA
2-24-94 @ London; England
